Glencore harvested nearly 100,000 pounds of precious metals and 60 million pounds of copper from electronic scrap last year, according to the company's 2021 sustainability report.

Lithium-ion battery recycling facilities are being announced with greater frequency, many aiming to capture the emerging supply of end-of-life electric vehicle batteries. But a research firm says several factors will prevent this sector from ramping up until after 2030.

An electronics reuse and recycling company is conducting trials of a technology to recover precious metals from end-of-life network and data center equipment.

Prices for a key e-scrap precious metal have increased to near several-month highs of late, and analysts say the price may increase to 2020 highs depending on wider economic trends.

A voluntary e-bike battery stewardship program launches, and a startup receives a $2 million contract to demonstrate its battery recycling technology. Those items are among recent announcements related to lithium-ion battery recycling.
